Catboys and their superiority over puppyboys in the classic rivalry
Usually, catboys are more reserved and less expressive with their emotions or feelings for others, which means any small bit of sentiment or endearment for their love interest is very rare and feels exclusive. Puppyboys show affection more straightforwardly, making their emotional segments more predictable and devoid of catboys' distinctive, more erratic tenderness. Since catboys have that mysterious factor when it comes to expressing their love, puppyboys remain at a lower, more foreseeable level.
While puppyboys are more upfront about their loyal and devoted sentiments for their love interests in exchange for regular love and affection, catboys don't need that forthright amount of attention. Catboys conceal the level of care and safe-keeping that they feel for their love interests, which means that they will mostly seem distant at first, but they will immediately feel possessive and alert if there is something wrong or danger is nearby.
Because catboys genuinely resonate with the personality traits of actual felines, they tend not to be immediately expressive with their feelings and often distant, which can be very confusing or underwhelming at times. Despite this, as their love grows more and more with time and they open up their more tender and soft side of themselves to their love interest, they become less and less distant and more loving and soft with their partner. They are most aligned with "kuuderes," the character archetype for those who exhibit little emotion or affection at first meet, but slowly reveal their true passion for their significant others as their relationship strengthens.
Some people can favor puppyboys and their more genuine affection because it is less of a challenge. While catboys are more difficult to tame from their initial ice-cold demeanor, they are superior to puppyboys because they don't try to force anything too strongly; their feelings mellowly bloom as the relationship strengthens. To be with a catboy feels exclusive since they are generally distant and cold with those with whom they are unfamiliar, but this guise of nonchalance melts away as they reveal their more comfortable side, the type of catboy that would awaken Y/N on a Sunday morning purring and asking for headpats.
As the ongoing fight over the better humanoid male archetype continues, the nonchalant yet secretly deep-loving essence of catboys outshines the overly submissive and obedient aura of puppyboys. As puppyboys chase and wag their tail endlessly, awaiting every beck and call for orders, catboys effortlessly win the hearts of most with their selective affection, occasional purring or meowing, and subtle allegiance. Catboys don't chase, meaning catboy romance is rare and can only be discovered.
